Interesting post Jeff, I don't think that the story is in Oregon. Not sure about the maps, they indicate that the location is Washington, and what about the British troops being in the US in 1900? Lots of questions but I am sure there is an answer.

Looked a little deeper and found a Colonel Tulloch who was stationed in China during the 1800's. Perhaps this should have been Peking and not Pekin.
