Crystallized Wrought Iron square nut found at the top of this hill after cleaning it this is what it looked like

Heading back up to Laurel Hill hopefully tomorrow afternoon.
And hopefully get over to Horsethief meadows Friday.

Got up there to the base of Laurel hill. Got up by the first shute going up the mountain. Lots and lots of burnt old cedar trees just about everywhere.

Old fireplace found on the Oregon trail near Barlow Creek. It was said a trading post was near here with a stove(fireplace) in the cabin. It was rare to get a stove across the trail back then in this area. You hear of any old cabin stories near the Mt hood area, might be worth checking into.

I am starting to think the burnt part of the tree might be bs after reading this (second pic). The approximate area is completely singed so why would you burn a stump when most likely all the stumps would already be burnt? Just don't jive unless it was in a unburnt area
