*Though The Article Claims Aberdeen is/was a Hamlet in Tazwell County.
Wikipedia claims Aberdeen is a historic plantation house located several miles north of Disputanta, Prince George County, Virginia. It was built sometime between 1790 and 1810, by Thomas Cocke. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberdeen_(Disputanta,_Virginia)

yea I'd be pretty confident he was in Virginia or west Virginia

I noticed allot of papers didn't separate them as different states when reporting.

And the Article appears to have been originally from Parkersburg West Virginia

Blacksburg is South of Aberdeen & so is Parkersburg WV. this may be the reason.

someone may be suggesting the Dip on the Map points to Blacksburg ?

if anything I'd say the Numbers are more likely paces then miles
Hopefully the circles were something more permanent then trees
