do a google for a website called Forgotten NY. It has tons of places in all of NY that used to be well used, but have fallen in disaray now. I suspect alot of those places are prime for detecting. good luck.

I knew the Long Island site was around, I just forgot about it. I remember really wanting to go detect Camp Hero, I thought you could turn some good stuff up there.

CRYPTODAVE - CAMP HERO IS NEAR THE MONTAUK LIGHT HOUSE RIGHT ? THIS PLACE IS STRICTLY OUT OF BOUNDS NO TRESSPASSING ISN'T IT ? IT USED TO BE A COAST GUARD/MILITARY BASE THAT CLOSED AROUN WWII , IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN
ARE YOU ON LONG ISLAND TOO ? WHERE DO YOU USUALLY HUNT ?
KENb - DO YOU KNOW THE EXACT LOCATION OF SHELTER ROCK ? I THINK IT'S SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF NORTHERN BLVD BETWEEN COMMUNITY DR AND SHELTER ROCK RD IN MANHASSET....BUT I CAN USE A MORE PRECISE LOCATION IF YOU KNOW IT

Bulgarian,
90% of Camp Hero is now a public park with a $6 entry fee.

KENb
THANKS FOR THE LINK - I FOUND THIS ONE TOO AND THEN i USED THE GPS COORDINATES TO LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE.EARTH
IT'S SOMEWHERE TO THE EAST OF COMMUNITY DR JUST SOUTH OF NORTHERN BLVD. I'LL GO THERE WHEN I GET A CHANCE AND TRY TO LOCATE IT.
CRYPTO - YOU'RE RIGHT 90% OF CAMP HERO IS A STATE PARK, BUT THE REMAINING 10% WHERE THE OLD RADARS AND INSTALLATIONS ARE IS PROBABLY WHERE THE GOOD STUFF IS, WOULD YOU AGREE ?
