Gidday Sam

Here is a home made Hodge potch of videos strung together from late 1980s. Of a joint American French expedition to Cocos who pooled resources for an expedition. The charted schooner "Manutea" was in real bad shape they spent most of the voyage from Punta Arenas fixing everything. The Skipper was a drunk no one ever never saw him sober.

It was legendary trip and illegal search as they had to bribe the guards on the island. For the princely sum of a bottle of whiskey and a Penthouse magazine. :laughing7:

One of the last searches on the island. One thing I guarantee you nothing is easy on the island. Its hot hot hot and in a minute of stepping foot on the island you are wet with sweat from humidity. And then insects especially fire ants bite the living crap out of you. Everything is steep and tangled by under growth or slippery mossy rocks. Sadly most of those in this video are no longer alive. Sadly after 40 odd years has now passed amigo many in the film are gone with only a fleeting memory of them caught in the film.

Several posted here on treasurenet for a time in the early years.
