You need to do a lot of research to know which lead is best. Research is the key to cache hunting.

I'd start with well documented sites that are accessible and where permits can be obtained.
If you limit the choices to those, I'll then pick one or two and give you the reason why.

Hi Don,

I'm not particularly trying to decide on a location to search. I'm just trying to get a thread going that has the potential for something to actually be found and am curious as to which of the sites tnet members think have the most potential.

Records for most Civil War locations can be gotten from the Government.

One problem with most Confederate treasure stories is that the CSA did not have the quanities of gold,silver,etc that are mentioned in all the legends.On the SWAMP GOLD thread there are many links to the CSA treasury and other Confederate treasure stories.The key figures of the flight from RICHMOND with the remaining treasury assets are Jefferson Davis,Judah Benjamin,and John C Breckinridge;the locations are Dannville,Va,Washington,Ga,Abbeville,SC,Ocala and Ellenton,Fl.
