The Library of Congress Chronicles of America has a huge collection of on-line newspapers. Jeff of PA is the past master of this art. You can search by state, city, newspaper name, topic, etc. Chances are good you will find what you are looking for there.

Well we were not able to leave due to flooding, only one road out as of now. It got pretty bad up here.
You still alive? Most of the time if there’s no answer for years, person either found what they were looking for or they’re dead, would love to know where the Spanish marker is!
