Relax... Take It Easy...

A Treasured Styx Song, Sung By The Spirited: Tommy Shaw

The best all around version I could find, hope you enjoy... 8-)

If you speak kind words, and encourage someone, that may
seem like it is a little thing to do, as a good gesture toward
them. You never know, what that may mean to any person,
and I think it is one of the most awesome things, that one
treasured spirit, can do to another treasured soul... :sunny: :fish:

I visited with my friend tonight, and I noticed, he was smilin' extra bright,
right when I first saw him. He said, I talked to my Aunt, and she told me
that there was a lady, that she remembers some long time ago...

When my Aunt was a little girl, the lady had come to the house,
and was talking out in the yard, that had asked about buying their
house, If they would want to sell it. But my grandma said no,
and they never saw the lady again, he told me...

I asked him, oh, so the lady knew something about the house,
before your people owned it? Yes, she said she was born in the
house, and kept looking over in the yard and pointed, but my Aunt
can't remember, just what it was that the woman had said. She did
sort of indicate, that she thought there was something that had been
left there, from years gone by... She told them, if they ever wanted
to sell the house, to let her know, and that she would like to buy it...

Then he smiled real big and said, so I asked her about you and I,
going down there and looking around, and they said sure, they
don't mind...

One night, I was outside the house, relaxing
and smoking a cigarette on the front porch...

Out of the cool dark evenin air, suddenly
I heard an' 'ol mountain lion, or cougar snarl,
and I knew what it was, from the one time
that I had heard one. We were fishin' late
after dark one night, and the catfish
were still bitin'...

We had been there since after supper,
and had already caught a pretty nice
stringer of channel cats by then. All
the smell of fresh beef liver and fish,
had long been on our hands, and
our hand wipin' fishin rag... :sunny: :fish:

... A Big Cat Snarl...

... When all suddenly, beyond to the east of the light of the lantern,
coming out of the dark, there was a deep, textured and rhythmic,
cat snarl, a blood curdling sound to my brave heart, of 17 yrs...

I said low and calm, what was that? Dad said, that was a Panther,
I believe we'll go to the house. So we quickly and calmly, gathered
our stringer. The bait, and lantern we scooped up, but leaving the
cane poles there, with the lines still out in the fresh running water...

We quickly made our way by the lantern, along the path about a
football field, up to the house. Leaving the stringer of cats on the
front porch, we hurried in, and told Grandma and Grandpa,
of what had just befell us... :sunny: :fish:
:cross:

I was sad, right when I heard Dad say, we would have to quit,
and go home. It wasn't that late yet, and I sure was having a blast, with
my real father, after ridin' that 'ol stagecoach, all those 1300+ miles, to visit... 8-)

Fish can smell us for sure if we put our hands in the water. At a very low p.p.m..
Catfish I've had in a tank approached prey by scent.
Minnows seemed to like to hang in the slight current from the filter, and if cats were feeding they knew from downsteam if anything was there.
Once they touched what they smelled they grabbed it instantly.
One riverfishing site had a high wall. I would use half a handi wipe for chicken liver blood rag and put it one my hook and dunk it a few times when it needed relief/cleaning somewhat.
A cloud of scent was visible in a light and it seemed to chum cats as activity picked up, usually, after a rinse..

I had been busy all day...

So I was pulling onto my country road, when I saw this man
walking for the third time, for many hours that day... Looking
him over quickly, I got the impression that he was probly a
gentle kind of person, and at that moment, got the thought,
that I should pull over and talk to him, just to see where
he was going, how far, and see how he acted. I had
been real busy working all day, driving to towne,
runnin' for materials, then building my 2, of the
four bay window frames, hauling them home,
from my friend's shop, and I thought about it...

I turned around, and slowly pulled over, right in front of
where he was walking, along the shoulder of the road.
He walked up to the open passenger side window,
and I said where are you going?... Oh, up the
road a ways, he said smilin... Well, would you
like a ride, I asked smiling, and he lit up, then
smiled bigger, and said yeah thanks, put his
bag in the back, and climbed up into the cab...

After a few minutes, he told me to turn west on
the highway. He said that he couldn't tell how far,
but he would see it. I asked him if he was a musician,
and he replied yes. Who have you played with, I
asked inquisitively. He politely answered,
have you ever heard of the...:sunny: :fish:

Y'all have a really good evenin'... 8-)

We would chum the water, just wrap the bait on our treble
hooks, and did pretty good. Uncle liked to trotline, and
showed me how to throw a net, for perch and shad.
We did ok, caught some goodn's, some huge ones
worked, and fought fiercely, maybe broke loose,
even straightened the hooks, then escaped...

My favorite, the Mississippi Blue Cats, big, feisty.
Sometimes the bign's can get pretty mean... :sunny: :fish:

Rebel,

Visualize you're on vacation, treasure hunting on the beach...

Taking a lunch break, watching a video shoot, with lot's of
brass and strings...

Your bare feet in the sand, and the waves are coming in,
rolling up close to your chair, in the fresh ocean breeze... :sunny: :fish:
