music trivia question fer tonight: NOT to take away from this
version, we being huge Johnny Cash fans, also too...

Whoo, whoo, was the original country western music artist
that recorded it first; "Ghost Riders In The Sky?"... :cross:

Relevent, SJ? I'm not... OK, talk tomorrow, see by then, if anyone
can answer that, who originally recorded "Ghost Riders In The Sky?"
This guy had his own songwriter, he called up, whenever he
needed another new song to record...

I have it archived, on DVR. Gotta go an' drive home... :cross:

OK Relevent,

I thought you had me on Burl Ives,
being the first recording artist to record
the song, so I pulled up my archive, and
got a little more info... :cross:

Howdy Relevent,

I pulled up my archive, You're right of course,
about Stan Jones, being the songwriter. He was a
Park Ranger, who was entertaining some movie stars,
who were on location, filming a Glen Ford Western Movie.

Someone recognized that he was writing Great Songs,
and so then they took him out to Hollywood, where
he struck gold...

The original title was "Riders In The Sky".
The song was recorded by Vaughn Monroe,
and became a "Million Seller". The first song
for Stan Jones, was a million seller...

... I was thinking however, about Gene Autry.
He recorded and sang the song with "Ghost" added
to the "Title" and soundtrack in his movie, with
Republic Productions, also in 1949, and did
very well with it...

Just as he did quite well, was very popular with
all of his movies, and songs back then...

So with my careful wording, "the first
Country Western Music artist", I was
right there too. I almost added the
word Country Western Music "Actor",
when I wrote the Clue, but thought
it would be too much of a give away,
tho' would have cinched it...

I still like The Outlaws Ghostly Rendition tho', the best, ... Crosse :cross:

Relevent, I hear ya',

I'm still watching videos and songs posted. Wandering around, out around the
mountains and the hills, on the beach, listenin' to hillbilly rock, or Jackson Browne.

Many a happy Treasure Tale, of the distant roads calls,
now as historic, as "The Good 'Ol Days" goes, I think... :cross:
