Back in the 70's I read a story about a lost treasure in Mexico. The story went like this, the spanish had sent a group of priest and prisoners up a river to find and mine silver. The spanish ships would come back the next year to pick up the silver. For several years the ships came and picked up huge amounts of silver at the mouth of the river. The people asked if they could have a large silver bell cast in Spain and brought back to them for the mission they had built. The ships brought the large silver bell the next year. The year after that the miners/priest were never seen again. The legend goes that for many years, up until the 1900's that people still heard this bell ringing in the remote part of Mexico.
Has anyone else heard of this story ?

Holo Patio, yes It was in the upper main land part of the Gulf of California. The mine was above a cliff, so they threw the ore down.

Possibly in the Early Tayopa series

Thanks, yes, I was reading about the silver bells in the Tayopa series, thats what reminded me of the story.
