I recall reading an internet article about a gentleman counterfeiting silver coins from silver mined in WV and running the coins up and down a river. If my memory servers me I believe the tale took place on the West Fork River in the early 1800's and maybe in Marion county WV. As I remember the story was told that the gentleman ran these coins up and down the river from his stash, ended up in searving time in jail, got out and was murdered for something he had done before retreiving his stash of counterfeit coins. Location was lost and along with the mine location. Does this story ring any bells for anyone. I know it wasn't Swift related, but cannot remember the details nor am I able to find the article. Just trying to figure out if there maybe anytruth to the story. I would think if there was a silver mine, swift or anyone else, making counterfeit coins their should be evedance of some type of stone furnace somewhere near? Any thoughts or insight on the subject?

Regards,
