I have been gathering all the information i can on these to place. I know how big they are and i have been hearing alot (ALOT) about the Sierra Madres. Stories of lost / burried treasure, old mines, old settelments, cabbins, pack trails, and legends. While i have been doing my research on this place I have read alot about Spanish treasure. Now alot of the stories seem to take place in Mexico. Im just not sure if they were considered Mexico back then and are now lacated in California.

If they are in Mexcio what do you have to do to be able to go explore over there, permit? Special instructions? My many travels to Mexico have made me weiry to go start hunting/ exploring/ camping?? in the Mexico part of the Sierra Madres.

Can anyone let me know if most of the stories/legends are in Mexico, if they are inded in CA canyou give me any clue as a starting point to explore.

Thanks all

As far as I know, ::) The Sierra Madres still are in Old Mexico!
Formerly, "Nuevo Espana" !
If you are looking for treasure in them...Remember!... ;D
>:( ALL TREASURES Belong to MEXICO. PERIOD! :P
Don't even think >:( about removing any w/o Official Permission!
How do you get Official Permission?
First off you have to have impressive credentials... & Lots of Factual Proof
AND! Not to forget THE! "Performace BOND" !
AND! You pay all! The Government's expenses...Inspectors, guards, etc..!
Remember!
In MEXICO! You are guilty, until YOU! Prove that you are Innocent! :o
;D HAY! GRINGO!
Try proving that! to a Mexican Judge! ::)
And Being SO!
You'll be living in a Mexican Prison, until your trial comes up?
NOT! ;D A GOOD THING! :o

Then there are the Bandits !! :-\

A) True
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ALL TREASURES Belong to MEXICO. PERIOD!
Q) Can you clarify this? I always thought that the states had primary rights except for things of National or historical value? Last that I have heard was that it was as 50/50 split with the landowner.
If you have a site for this information I would love to have it since it is of critical importance to me .
In MEXICO! You are guilty until you prove that you are Innocent!?
A) Similar to being jailed on "suspicion" of a crime in the US eh?
No! :)
The Legal definition for "Suspicion" :( is:
"There must have been a crime committed!
And!
You and/or your companions/vehicle, etc, must match the description of the perpetrator(s)!" :-\
You can only be held 24 hrs! w/o charges being filed!
AND/OR!
They want to intimidate you !
AND!
They cannot "search" your vehicle, unless they have YOUR! Permission!!
Or! That :(
They have gone before a judge and obtained by having sufficient evidence, a signed "search" warrant!
W/O, which is why they must always ask first!
Just Say! NO! :)
The that way I prevent this from happening, is to ask why they are requesting a "search"?
I then tell them, there is nothing in/on this vehicle that was not legally obtained/owned by myself!
If they proceed beyond this point, I like to remind them they are violating my "U.S. Civil Rights" !
A Federal Offense, even for them!
AND! :-\ I WILL SUE ! :-\
