Any Idea's What this stone could Be? Fluke? Imagination?

Hi, I am really new to this and was refered to this site from the (What is it Forum). Any one have a idea what this could be. Here is the original Post. Thanks, Old Guy 55 P.S. We have ruled out a mascot for the democratic convention.

What is it?

Hi, This is my first post and hope I am doing this correctly. Anyway, I found this stone during this past summer doing a food plot for deer. We have land in central Minnesota just south of Mille-lacs lake. My son and I were disking a Field and I just happen to look down and picked this stone up. It almost looks like a cows head with a circle around it and lines through it. My son says I'm crazy! Any idea's what is it? Thanks, Old guy55

Oh wait, sorry! You've posted the stone is a different forum, but on the same site.

You may get responses from a few different folks here. We'll have to see if the opinions change at all....

Hard to say. More photos would be good, all sides. Examine it under magnifying class and see if anything pops out that would indicate hand carved.

Thats something I'm looking into, how to determine man made verus natural on some things that may be carvings. It is tough to do..if you have rough rock. Or a good microscope i suppose.

You may end up having to send it to university to get an idea.

Ditto. Natural anomaly. Unusual, worth tossing in the sock drawer, but nothing to get too excited about.

It very well could be natural but it definately deserves to be checked out by someone who knows how to identify it positively. I would take it to a local university and have a geology professor and an anthropology professor both look at it. Even then you are likely to get two different opinions. If you can, would you post a picture of it with something next to it for a size reference, thanks. HH Charlie

Hi Charlie, The straightest side of the stone looks like it was broken off at one time, the back side looks like any other plain stone. I don't live to far from the University of Minnesota, I think that would be my next step. Thanks, Old Guy P.S From reading at T.N. and all the interesting sights and posts this is getting addicting, I will have to put a metal detector on my x-mas list. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
