Found Down South and Don't Have a Clue

Hi There,

A guy on another forum had found this plate a while back and also a gold French coin within 30 feet.
The whole plate is roughly 5-3/4" x 1" copper with a worn silver plate.

If anyone has any ideas we'd sure love to hear them. I've looked at quite a few signs and symbols and can't seem to find anything that resembles it.

Thanks for any help guys / girls.
Mike

I dont have a clue either but, I can give you a rough reading,
with out any context or other clues it is very cryptic.

IF and I say IF the maker was using the theme of the accepted
treasure codes handed down from the Templars to the Jesuits
to the Spanish (to the Japanese..)

The Bell...is the clarion call to seek what is buried AND it might
be read backwards, then the bell would dictate the distance.

The 'M' sorta looks like a wave but he M mostly means travel on...

The Diamond means ' go to ' or ' look here' the "X" in the middle
perhaps the Kings Fifth or the Treasure cache, it can mean a distance

The Keyhole..before the two squares, might mean the key is that the
cache was moved or that first you find square number one, the number two

The "Y" this had been called the Robbers Y...but can mean a tunnel with
-perhaps on the hill....the goods usually to the right...

The Waves and the "S" might in its most simplistic form " south of the river"

The cryptic looking P with what looks like a 7 attached:
might be Proverbs 7:

My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
Keep my commands and you will live;
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.

The tilted cross is completely unknown to me.. and have never seen
this configuration, it could mean Church related, I do see a backward
"F" which is the Jesuits trademark and almost a logo for them.

The last one a 7 with a 6 morphed together looks to me like the number '67
and the expulsion date of 1767 is somehow tied to this, at least it makes
some logical sense when there is nothing else tangible to learn from..

Taking that into consideration then, I firmly believe that this is written backwards
as the Jesuits were want to do.

So the 76 could be a date, expressed because of its infamy , the the cross
is the mark of the Church of course, the the F hanging on the Church symbol
states where the Jesuits were connected. Then the Bible verse, which is appropriate
and follows suit of the Jesuits and almost every single puzzle that I have worked on.

Then the first direction, South of the River, this makes ultimate sense here in this position
Then on a hill top the trail splits and you take the right hand side of the split.
The two squares with the arc connecting them maybe the Alpha and the Omega
Look for the usually large boulders or outcropping here with animals, faces, etc.
Now the Keyhole symbol fits here better in this direction, saying the the next sign
is the Key to the puzzle,
The Diamond IS the sign that says "go to"..it could be the final geometry of the Omega
The X usually means Roman Numeral "10" varas, feet, yards, legues, ects. It also can
mean to keep the X found in the field to your right as you pass..
The M is many faceted, 1. travel on 2. Mineral 3. Owl (cache) look for the Owl here
Once you find the Owl, email me and I will tell you the final distance!

Good Luck, remember I dont have all the answers, but I have given you what was
my feeling at the time. I do feel some of this is exactly right on -
others area are a good guess.
Hope it helps you
auferiously

ps remember that the Jesuits also contained members whose native country was France.

Wow Rangler, thanks for taking the time on this. If you don't mind I'll email the owner of the plate and maybe he'll
agree to let me send you the whole thing, or I'll get out of the picture and let him contact you directly.

Thanks again for your work on this.

Here's what might be a diamond in rock form. This I speculate leads to something far away.

Re: Found Down South and Don't Have a Clue

Dear group;
This group may be a bang-up bunch of treasure hunters, however there doesn't seem to be a cattleman in the bunch. The symbols pictured on the plate are cattle brands, my friend. From left to right, starting at upper left:
1) Stirrup
2) Running M
3) X diamond
4) Keyhole
5) Bent arch
6) Walking Y
7) Flowing S
8) Snake
9) Leaning Y-X
10) Stylized 7-6

Cattle brands are *read* from inwards to outwards, left to right and up to down, in that order of preference. For some of the most popular Spanish missionary brands used during the settlement of the new World, go here:

Your friend;
LAMAR

Re: Found Down South and Don't Have a Clue

Thanks for your help.
Someone on another forum said the same thing Lamar, and I passed that on to the owner. He even said that there's a good chance that the plate is not related to the coin he found or the history of the area in Tennessee that he found it in.

Thanks again!
Mike
