Need help with symbols in Mohawk Cave

My partner and I have climbed down a hole inside Indian Caverns and discovered some tunnels, some collapsed, some not. At the front of one there is an arrow symbol painted in red and yellow and through a hole in the collapse there was a yellow symbol which looked like a backwards 3 with an extra line on the right side to make it look almost like a pitch fork. Any ideas on what it could be? We may dig our way into this section to see further.

All of my experience with an E says it is either a compass marker for East or,
a Spanish marker saying WRONG WAY TURNABOUT.

Be careful in those Tunnels. Some Tunnels can be very scary. And Dangerous.
