This is a fortification or an abutment made to retain something
such as a structure built around a well to keep out animals etc...

In the last picture you have cropped off part of the sign

Maybe an inn or way station for travelers.
A place to rest and regroup before moving on.

That would be my best guess at this point.
It would make some sense as well that the other signs that seem to surround the place mark the trails in and out.

I think your onto something here, I believe you have a medieval fortification.

I saw something similar to this the rock drawing/carving, but I can't remember where. As I recall it was a plot layout for a fortification. The square was the main house with a connecting tunnel to the 'round hole'. This was the castle keep.

There's no information about the size of the trees, but going by there size, I'd judge the diameter of the hole to be about 60 ft. The walls are very thick, built to withstand a seige and wide enough to provide a fighting platform at the top. Look about the base to see if there is evidence of a gateway. Also check the intertior walls as much as possible and see if there are square hole cutouts, these would be for the floor supporting beams.

By the looks of the present wall top, it appears that the upper levels have been removed, there's a lot of loose debris. When first built the top of the tower would have been finished and much taller. What is the height of the walls now? Also, eyeball the surrounding countryside to get an idea of your view, as though to spot an advancing raiding party.

I'd use an MD an check around the area thoroughly.

Thank you grillz for this valuable information I think you have a good point and most logical point for that the hole was a tower build to withstand a siege. I’ll try to get inside the hole and take some photos for the wall but its very hard to get to the floor , I’ll keep you posted .

Best regards and many thanks
