Those lightning ridge and mountain pics made me let out a long sigh at the beauty there. Ah one walks in wonder. Does not matter bout the signs there then.

Twisted, looks like you and your partner are having fun - oh my - in that one pic. Nice pic. Looks like that was a fine day.
Oddrock was this the rock that inspired your nickname? Never seen anything like it. Feels pagan..doesn't it.
Here' s a couple from old times. By the way, if any thoughts on the second one, just pm me. It is a long standing mystery to me.

Hello Oddrock, your post # 3 may show, 1 inch drill holes may be points of interest, what you may find distance or 2.5 miles ? , next size may be for information such as mine / cache / vault / amount / when you locate them, the BB size may be trail markers. Just a guess on my part because of the 1 inch could indicate distance. Take the map apart size the holes together the 1 inch, the next size and how do they fit, turns possibly, smallest may be trail markers. It would be interesting to see if there is anything in the bottom of the 1 inch drill holes, I would start at the upper right hand side side and count the # of small dots and use them for trail markers ( varmint heads ) to locate the 1 " then do the same, possibly the map is the starting point and it shows the direction and distance, that's all you need to follow the trail. Snake head is the direction

dsty,
Thanks for the info and suggestions. As of this moment I have no clue where my notes are that go with the pics.
This pic will show that it is more than one snake. Third snake head in the hole on the side. (perhaps showing a triangle) Appears to be a corner below the snakes head with compass.
pic does not show that the snakes have a number of diamonds and a number of rattles on the tails. Along side of the bigger snake is a series of smaller drill holes just visible. Makes my head hurt.

Ok, I don't know where to post this link. This is a possible lead to a Spanish mine around the Los Angeles area. There's plenty of pictures in the story though. Maybe someone around that area could check it out.

I have checked this area out thoroughly in 05 and again in 06, with many hikes deep into redrock canyon, from two different directions...it about 12-14 miles round trip just to get near the area...thick brush and with no wild fires this area is a tangle of underbrush and any brush busting off the trail is difficult. I did find evidence of mining and most of it way old. This is the area that the Chumash were mining gold before the jesuits arrived...stories of mined gold being shipped out of the mission at Santa Barbra are prevalent. Years later a hot shot mine promoter- owned bought and sold mines and leases here...my partner has researched him extensively, and had a cabin near the access trail to redrock canyon...he found the mine but also found the skeletons of indians killed when a greedy mine foreman, killed them and threw them in the mine [pit] and ran off with what gold they had mined...he gave up the mine, being overwhelmed with the grief, his brother did flip out and they all walked away, after the sheriff was called to report the finding of the remains...
I have and my partner did find spanish signs in the canyon, we are still working on the trail and the history of these mines..as late as last summer...this is a very scenic area and the trails are long and steep, but the reward of visiting canyons where the spanish mined in the 1600's is very nice indeed...then the other layers of the 49's, the depression era miners, promoters, range war participants in late 1880's.
this is also part of the 'ridge road' area, where the famous Fort Tejon sits...a landmark in the old tale about the lost prospector who found the legendary Lost Parde mine,.. stumbled into the fort , half dead and caring a sack of high grade gold ore...
will post more information and pics when I can find the time..

If you find yourself down in southern California, and want to go for a hike, let me know Rangler. I'll go check out Red Rock canyon with you. I want to see some Spanish signs up close and personal.
