    Ever seen something like this?

    I hunt petroglyphs. Usually what we find are Native American or more recent stuff with names dates etc.... This one though puzzles me. It is scratched or cut in with tools which usually means it is fairly modern, 200 years to present. The design is very odd though not like most of the stuff I normally see. Anyone have any idea on what it is? It's about 2feet by 8 to 10 inches. The rock overall weighs about 250 lbs. I put talcum powder to make the design show up better.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Nice find. Can you share what part of the world it comes from, and the circumstances in which it was located? Too bad you removed it from its place of discovery.

    It was found in South Carolina. Yeah, normally they don't moved. This one had to go however. It was in the way of progress. I do have pictures and measurements of it in it's native habitat.

    That's what I thought of too, dsty.
    Here's a couple of pics from an old newspaper insert from Heavener showing the Runestones:

    Charmin;
    Are you aware of another interesting and unexplained "find" that was made in the area of Heavener concerning a small iron pitcher?? The one that broke out of a large lump of coal that had just come from about 2 miles inside of a coal mine. It happened back in the early 20th century and the pitcher is now in the possession of the Creation Evidence Museum in Glenrose, TX. If you go to their website, you'll find a picture of it and the sworn statement by the finders. There are many artifacts and scientific papers presented on the site.

    I love the creationevidence website, Bill. There is so much history surrounding the town of Heavener---I'm a long way from there, though, but someday would love to see those runestones in person.
    The picture posted on this thread really reminds me of some of the images I've seen of the runestones.
