    Possible Spanish Marking? Anyone see one of these before?

    This is literally located on the Spanish Trail (near a modern sign marking the trail) in Eastern Utah. While I am familiar with the rock art of the area this is new to me.

    The picture is a picture of the original I took several years ago when I found this. As far as I know nobody else knows of this. No signs that would indicate anyone else in the immediate area. It is located in a kind of overhang and shielded by a few pine trees.

    The second picture (the guy with his hand up. Santo Nino?) is a pic I pulled off of a post a few years old. There is a figure just like this carved above the entry of the overhang where above mentioned marking is. There are also similar figures further down the canyon about a mile or so.

    Any thoughts?

    Yes, the second picture is my post, enhanced from a petroglyph photo. If you've found a similar carving, it may be significent, IMHO. Your first photo is certainly intriguing and needs some noodle time before comment. It would be interesting to see more photos.

    Eric;
    The marks in your first photo are obviously shapes and signs arranged to give the idea that certain letters are being used. They will need breaking down for decyphering.

    I do have pictures of the figures, both the one like yours above and the one further down the canyon. Only problem is they are in Utah (stored ay my parents) and I live in Nevada now. I will see what I can do about getting them and posting them.
