Are you talking about the man's face, or the black stick that looks like a snake?

If you are looking at the black thing that looks like a snake.... you have four or five, in other photos.

There is a six foot, or longer one on your avatar.

You have several that I think are shadows, but the one on the avatar has got me puzzled.

Not trying to freak you out. Just can't tell what they are,,,,!!,,,

Well now I'm curious. do tell!! Do tell!!!!
It was a tiny golden yellow bead. It would have stood out as not natural to someone who was more experienced than I was at the time. I believe it could not have been copper, or it would have been green. We went to clean all the lichen off the rock for pictures, and the little bead got swept out of it's holder place and is gone. I have searched every time we've stopped at the head of the trail. I had no idea it was there at the time, only after staring at, then inverting colors in Paint in the first picture of the rock, before we removed the lichen and moss, did I see it. The rock that held it is back at the beginning of the trail.

Nwaher, looking at this on the lap top... that redish mark in the center of part near the ground.... sorta...

Looks like it could have been knocked off of that odd looking nose on that monument that we have been calling "the animal".

the pattern looks like the reverse of the goofy looking nose...

some nut may have kicked it off, the same may be true for the other piece too.

I wasn't pointing that question at just you.
There are lots of folks looking at this site.... someone might have a magic wand, out there that has seen this before...

I'm going to try to draw a circle around part of that and see if you noticed it.

Might take me a little bit...

Nwaher,

Like Mikel said, that stone is noticeable, maybe too noticeable?
The next time you get out there, take your metal detector and look
around that area. Look around for another sign or marker or tree?
My thinking is that it is an eyecatcher and there is probably something
buried or cached nearby. Have a seat on top of that rock, or maybe stand it
and look around. Trust your instincts and see where it takes you.
Good Luck and keep the pictures coming.

Under the fireplace hearth stone can be a good place to look for a cache. Digging the old outhouse holes out can be good too, its usually very easy digging compared to the hard pack. View attachment 1488824

The dark rock in the fire place I've seen where the old timers would move a rock in the fire place to hide valuables
