Not be a downer but the Spanish came along quite some time ago and that little fella looks a little stunted to be several hundred years old. Maybe modern Spanish came through as in the last 20 years

I like the area and would definitely swing a detector in there but I’d look for some older trees and some possible carvings on the stones in that location
