I was out metal detecting on our place and was going around an old oak tree. There is not a house or anything within several miles of this tree. I found this rock under the tree. Is this some sort of treasure mark or sign. I am not familiar with any of the traditional marks. I figure it is just a carving that a child made many years ago. There were no other fragments of the rock anywhere nearby.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That in itself is probably nothing. If you find more around the site that are similar, and find definite treasure markings, then it's worth keeping. For future reference, whenever you find something like that:

LEAVE IT WHERE IT WAS FOUND, DO NOT MOVE IT

I will leave the next thing alone that I find. I never even thought about it as being a mark or sign. I collect rocks and artifacts so I thought it was pretty neat. I know where it was at and since it is so small and was loose on the ground it could have been kicked around for many years before I found it. I will check out there again to see if there is anything else of interest.
Thanks for looking.
