Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Thomas...remember that small tree in front of the gotcha rock...usually takes a crack for a pine of juniper to grow.
So like we discussed...i'll grab a new square head shovel to clean that bedrock to get a better look see. With the silt being
concentrated to the right side of the hole at the 6 foot level...and also having my head stuck in the overhang of said support
stone i still feel as we tunnel left as per the marks...the support stone will turn into a flipper. But...like you said we shall see.

You should have an email with todays goodies...email when your ready for the next round...approx 3mb's. Found a free vista
right click and resize program tonight to skinny down those 7-8 mb files the nikon spits out. Tell me what ya think of the bird...

I do believe he is looking at the hilltop you explored on the other side of the canyon from where i was digging today.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

So as promised,
I have finally located several versions of the same sign.
By experience my partner and I have deduced that this sign indicates a death trap is present.
We even went back to look at past sites ... and found these every time we had found a trap.

The sign does not tell of the type of trap, only that one is present.

The pointer with sloped shoulders is typical of this sign.
The back in most cases is straight, but in one of these it has been shaped to be a heart as well.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Something important to note is that this sign may not be present where every death trap is found.
How ever any where it is found,
there will always be a death trap.

This is one sign that has been a fun one to experience
and thanks to Doug for finally putting all the clues together,
It was his quick thinking that made the link.

This is a special sign because you won't find it in any books.
And it is a good one to know because it could save you.
Where ever it shows up on a trail it gives you a little insight as to what is in store.

I am out there early to take pix and see where and if we went wrong.

the ionization pix are positive on the D1, with the new film ...it lays in the crevice like fog.
Faint but there...

Now for a nap.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Just finished laying down tools and getting things cleaned up and ready for the next well.
Still feel like a punching bag from the other day. With that being said i think we need to
A) Chisel the wall away like they did or build a tripod so you can lower me back into that
damn hole with block and tackle...B) Polaroid....then look at the heart stone above us to the
left that shows erosion under it. Anyways email me your thoughts...it will wednesday at the
earliest for me to return. Thank god...my body needs the rest...lol.

And glad to hear that D1 shows the same thing at an earlier time...if it shows up on the new
venture we are so in buisness....
Did it turn up more like the pics i shared with you? Color wise and layout?

Here's a pic of home away from home.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Well I just finished doing a bad,bad thing.I went through this entire thread with my 7yr old grandson ,who is already an accomplished hunter and fisherman, and explained every picture.
He picked up on it right away and I'm afraid I've created another dn'd treasure hunter. We have all summer together to finish his ruination.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Thom, you brought tears to my eyes with your generosity.
This kid would have been a perfect acolyte for my lifelong friend and mentor Stacey Groscup and would be perfectly happy to live unfettered in the wild.
Just finishing the 1'st grade this thread showed him the need to read the text to explain the pictures.Mebbie, he thinks now, there is some benefit to education.Don't want to ramble.Kid want's to read better so he can reread the entire thread to go find treasure.
Getting just one kid wanting to read and learn justifies all of our misspent lives.
Whatcha think?
Jim

Hey, If this thread accomplished just this one thing, for just one kid.
We far exceeded the goal that I set out to do.

Just a small side note.
Tell him I am going through old files and am digging up old pictures of more signs to post.
and even if I have to draw the signs on paper and photo them,
I will make sure this thread keeps educating.

Cultivate that special curiosity,

You have a true treasure there my friend.
