I can't make it out too well but it looks like an upright figure with arms raised. If that's the case, I've seen something like it in Iowa. I sent a picture to an archeologist and he told me that shaman figures are represented in such a way. Have you noticed a cross associated with the character? Maybe even a Latin style cross. Is this in Wyoming?

Rick

Yes this is in Wyoming. Have you seen it before somewhere?

I can't make out your image too well. I'm looking for images of google-eyed creatures with bared fangs showing. There will also be a Latin style cross near it. Is your image like that? Here's a picture.

Wow, jtnm. That second photo looks like it shows an opening to a natural cavern. Have you tried to find an opening more accessible??

Here is something to look over Thom, I don't know if you can see the (F & A) in this pic.....
I hope you don't mind me adding a few pics.
We will have to go look this one over Thom.

Sorry to bring this up... No one seemed to post on this, but there is a definite face you can see on the bottom right of the second picture. Its in the first picture too. Definite nose, mouth, eye and eyebrow..with like a cut on the back as if a mask..

That cave opening drawing looks to me like where the arrow is pointing is the exact hole right there that you'd go into, once inside the rest of it looks like it would be the floor plan. If the other drawing with the cross ontop of the mound of squares was close by this I'd think it means that the amount of squares in the mound stands for the amount of people buried inside this cave. It shows an Indian with an arrow shooting towards another it looks like?

Thanks Springfield.

Is there anything else around this that might help figure out who put it there and when? I've sent this picture to a couple of archeologists but they didn't want to venture a quess without more information. I've found two creatures that were portrayed in such a manner. One was a water spirit but they had serpent or dragon like bodies, and the other one was Tlaloc.

Tlaloc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tlaloc is unlikely for the upper Mississippi. The critter I posted was facing a creek about 50 feet away.

Looks like a monument to me, is that a drill hole, top of the heart to the dark spot and raise your string / level to the horzional and thats the direction of travel.

thanks usernotfound and truckinbutch. That's a shame, really. After reading this whole thread and most of the threads here in the S/S forum I developed a liking to Old Dog, his style and skill. I basically signed up here to pick his brain on some... things.
