Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

    Thom!!
I got a quwstion on pic #183. There is a duckhead looking straight out to the camera, with the biggest eye looking to our left. Is this the same direction the bottom trail pointer also points to? And I have found that the shorter the beak, and the smaller the duck, the closer you are to " being there ". An open beak also, I think means that there is an opening, mine, tunnel, room, etc. Anyway, Peace to All, TD

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

    Ed,

The sun symbol with all of the circles and the two small circles inside the smallest circle is a watchful eyes sign as well as an owl sign.
This is a rare one, all in all it says beware a guarded treasure is ahead.

The four holes are in another post.
I think they are anchor points for a hoist or traverse system for moving great weights.
The holes would keep a hoist tower in place and reduce motion at the bottom while the machine was working.

    Sorry Tony,
    No duck in that photo.

    Randy,
It certainly looks like a lion standing guard.
Once again if his eyes are open the direction he is looking is the direction to go.
If his eyes are closed you are there. (at the location he is guarding)
    also marks a royal trail.

    LOL
    Thanks for the input Sherm.
I'll remember that if I go to Chicago.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

    Ed,
As far as the cross on the wall with the 8 near it...

Measure from the bottom of the cross to the ground.
Multply the distance by 8 and see what happens.
If the 8 were not there I would say the standard distance is times 10
    The 8 may change that.
The direction is marked I'm sure.

    Ed,

As per my reply in the other post ... I wish there was more light in these pix.
It is VERY hard to see what you are trying to show us here.
    Sorry.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is a pig monument that is a little clearer.
I took the photo yesterday to show what I am talking about.
the eyes are open. If I follow his gaze I should find another Pig with his eyes closed.
I will be at the treasure site.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

    Thanks Ed.

The heart is a classic symbol that represents gold ahead. it is a directional mapointer and will point to the next marker as well as the treasure. Heart signs will get significantly smaller as you get closer to where the treasure is stashed. they will warn of potential dangers such as a death trap. They dont point it out but they do let you know it is there.

Here is an end of the trail sign.
It tells you the last sign is near.

Sorry I won't post the last sign.

This is a royal poodle on one of my sites in arizona. I have recently found one here in colorado that hopefully i will be hiking and looking into in the next day or so and hopefully be able to give out some info on what this means besides its connection with the king.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is a cliff face sign which would only take your attention if you had dowsed behind it first, to a gold cache. The barely visible heart is telling you that there is gold behind the right hand lobe. The only problem is that they had cemented a false front about 6 foot deep at the hearts rear. When the heart and the surrounding area was removed, 3 foot lower, this palm sized hand carved heart showed up. THe bump on its side is showing me a trap. I didnt recognise it until after I set it off.

The lower bump on the left hand side of the carving was saying ( death trap here) I followed an obvious lower trail to this area and accidentally set off the trap. With a large "crack" a specially carved long flat 2 foot wide rock slid silently to my feet. I always work from the distance with long handled shovels. Another small tunnel on the opposite side of my excavation below this heart showed up.

About 3 foot inland was a mass of roots indicating a cache, only they weren't old dried up cache roots. It was bundled up grass imitating roots inviting me to open up this small tunnel. No way known. The slanting wall of debris on the left is dezigned to come down on you. This is the fourth and 5Th trap I escaped in 15 years. What drew my attention to this cache was two huge obviously man made rocks acting as buffers in front from the sea , placed in a heart shaped position with the vee of the huge heart directly below the further back inlaid heart sign as shown below.. Below the inlaid heart sign buried in the sand were two pieces of wood which were off a local tree that last for hundreds of years, just in case you missed the heart. Max

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

In this photo you can see a rising sun sign.
This sign tells you to go East
Count the rays and measure in varas , X 10 or X 100 if no other indicators are there.
In this case there were. A V indicates varas.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

After the last sign I figured the whole pannel would better show the whole picture.
Here you can see the sun and the V together.
As well as a snake on the side pointing towards danger.

I will never look at rocks the same again.....makes me think back and wonder how many times I walked right on past things that would have been more fun to see.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Every time we find an eye symbol it seems a bit different and never quite as any others I have seen
Text books show it as a clear sign with an iris to point the direction.
All of them we find are modified in some way but all have an iris and all point in that fashion.
The add ons they give with all of this extra stuff indicates things that the maker of the sign wanted to convey and may be lost to time.
