He is looking across the river. The other side is so overgrown that its hard to tell whats over there. If this is indeed a sign then the next clue would be there, it would just take a little investigating, plus a swim across the river.
What does a face symbolize?
Get on the other side of this and turn back and see if you can see the face easily.
if not it is a one way trail.
"One Way trails"...How they were used.
A one way trail is significant in that it protects from strangers.
a stranger will not know the significance of the "one way".
His life would be in jeopardy by those watching the trail if he were going the wrong way.
If you decide to follow it you will find that this is either a trail in or out. if the trail is an out trail follow it in reverse to arrive at the origin of both trails.
A main trail or two way trail will also have faces looking down the trail.
These faces can be seen from both directions.
Actually following the signs could be troublesome since both are on private land. The Texas Colorado river runs between the two. This is located down around San Saba, TX. Mabye this face is watching the famous silver mines
Maybe. They usually traveled by river, so it being close to a river is a good thing. Also it looks like there is a trail in front of the face? That could be a VERY old trail that people just kept using for some reason.
The easy way to find out is to go a ways down the river past the face after about fifteen or twenty yards turn around and look back at the face,
if you have to look hard to find it it is a one way trail across the river.
If you can easily see a face it is a two way trail that goes both ways.
