German ww2 gold bars found/70"s or 80"s-high society magazine/photosThe lake is

First this post is about found treasure peroid, not politics. I retrieved these pages from a old high society magazine, but I forget the year, and its not in the article. The lake is called Toblitz and it had a secret nazi base on its shores, and is in Austria. My father who was a sargent with the 3rd army, during ww2,had told me stories about this lake ,he got from interrogateing german pow"s,and always wanted to go their, but never did. You might say, while i am on the subject, and thinking of dear old DAD, that he to was a bit of a treasure hunter, and told me he went into every bank, post office, help blow open found safes, and nazi offices looking for loot, and he found some to. somewhat like the movie kelly"s Gold, but he really loved the series combat, and got big laughes out of Hogens Hero"s. The diver holding the box of bars is Zauner, and he found other relics also, but you just cant beat good old gold.

Hey guys, if we could just see the rest of the bottom of the picture we would see that the bottom of the box is partially under water in which he is kneeling on his right knee, supporting the box on his left. The box, including some of the bars look distorted because of the water's refraction. Ever shoot fish with a bow and arrow...always aim lower than what you see. In this case the straight edge of the box is visually bent under the water. I don't think anyone is trying to fool anyone.

a Knee would explain it.

The Picture does look like it's Pieced together tho.

As I said in the first Place, i'm sure the story is true.
I just think the Picture looks Faked, for Dramatic Effect,
as he still appears he has no grip on that Case of Gold.

NAAAAAAH! I agree with BOBINSD. He's on one knee. They just cut out the bottom for the valuable page real estate. Between the gold and girl, I don't think anybody reading the article would have looked any further down than the box anyway! ;D

....and besides, it was in a "High Society Magazine" Soft porn at it's best! They specialize in shots of boxes! ;D ;D ;D

Re: German ww2 gold bars found/70"s or 80"s-high society magazine/photosThe lake is

hi,
I grew up 20 km from Toplitzsee (lake Toplitz) and in 1968 was asked by a tourist if I could look for his camera he had lost from the tourist boat. As a 17 year old I free-dived to about 15 metres but because there was a lot of silt on the bottom I didn't find anything. (after all, that lake is 120 metres deep). got told by a Gendarm (cop) to scoot and don't try that stunt again. not long after I happened to work in the local Buergermeister's (mayor's) loungeroom and saw a kind of certificate on the wall. I was only able to read UNTERNEHMEN TOPLITZSEE (Operation Lake Toplitz) before the mayor told me not to be nosey and scoot. As I stated in another forum I always wondered if the diving ban in this lake has more to do with keeping things the way they are rather than diving safety and treasure. btw. the picture above with the gold bars is not lake toplitz at all and the counterfeit british pound bills originally in the box were turned into gold by the photographer's fairly poor skills. cheers hh

Re: German ww2 gold bars found/70"s or 80"s-high society magazine/photosThe lake

I read somewhere years ago, that the Nazis stashed a lot of gold in Lake Toplitz and used it from time to time after the war to help fund friendly causes. It said that the only reason they couldn't bring it all up at once, is because it would be a major operation, and would attract much attention. I'm not positive, but I think the article said that the ODESSA are the ones who own and guard it.

Might have been a lot of BS, but who knows?

Best,
Mike

That's right Digem,

ODESSA is/was a real organization. Martin Bormann admitted it to Simon Wiesenthal in the late sixties, when he found him on a huge ranch in Bolivia (I think). It was in a book called "The Search for Martin Bormann" (or something to that effect. Bormann was well protected by the Bolivian Government, and a large number of paid merceneries.

I just found a book by a guy named Paul Manning. he did a lot of research on The Bormann Group. they have their fingers in all sorts of things worldwide.

Here is a bit about the book:

"Side “A”—is the story of the frustration of the publication of Manning’s Bormann book. When Paul was finally able to get Lyle Stuart Inc. to publish the book, Lyle Stuart had both of his legs broken the week the book was published. FTR#125 is a spontaneous interview with Paul’s son Peter, conducted after Peter called Mr. Emory’s show. FTR#155 consists of the last published work that Paul did. Both FTR#283, and FTR#152 [A] discuss Mr. Manning’s riveting professional dialogue with the Bormann group, through professional intermediaries.) Eventually, Paul’s son Gerry was murdered in retribution for the Bormann research, and as a warning against publishing a follow-up volume In Search of Martin Bormann. The “target selection” by the Bormann group for its retribution may well have been determined by the dedication of Martin Bormann:Nazi in Exile. “To my wife, Peg, and to our four sons, Peter, Paul, Gerald and John, whose collective encouragement and belief in this book as a work of historic importance gave me the necessary persistence and determination to keep going.”

Now I will have to read this one. It's free online!

Best,
Mike

While you are doing your reseach check out how the International Red Cross provide AID to the NAZIS and helped them escape to South America.
I dispise the Red Cross and would not give them a PENNY for anything.
As far as the man in the photo there is no way he could hold this much gold on his knees even if he was in the water.
IT AIN'T POSSIBLE.
The picture is just HYPE.

Come on Peg,

You mean to say that you can't put a grown person on one knee? There's only seven bars in the box (anywhere from 140-210 pounds).
