In the story I read, they said he could keep the money and he said the first thing he is buying is a car because he's tired of walking. lol

Just wondering if this was "old" money or new. What are the chances that robbers stashed this there years ago and was unable to retrieve it?
Anyone out there know of any stories of money lost there in the Colorado river, from the past?
