DeSoto's 1539 CAMP FOUND IN MARION COUNTY FLORIDA
Ashley White has found the site of DeSoto's 1539 camp near Citra on Orange Lake.
Items found so far,include 3 cpooer coins,two with Ferdinand & Isabella on them,chain mail,Nueva Cadiz beads,pottery,and domestic pig jawbones.
Also found near the site,the foundation of the lost MISSION SAN BUENAVENTURA de POTANA,built 60 years after DeSoto.

My goal for 2012 is a dozen Walking Liberty Halves
That is awesome news. Thanks for sharing. Would love to know what they find when they are completely done excavating it. Assuming the archeaologists are going to excavate.

The DeSoto site is not too far from CSA Capt J J Dickinson's "SUNNYSIDE" plantation at Orange Springs or CSA Fort Brook on the Oklawaha River.
