I can now confirm that the machines were not British. They were Teknetics, Fisher and Minelab units. Beware of believing everything that you read in the (Indian) papers!

After he was arrested red-handed in the possession of 150 duplicate metal detectors, the suspect led the police to the warehouse, where the other two suspects were arrested as well. All three accused have been referred to the public prosecution.

Mine lab, Garrett, Bounty Hunter,
there has been issues in some countries with counterfeit detectors, look the same but not the same and do not operate the same.. and then when they attempt to get warranty service....
How would you like to pay what a new Mine Lab 4800 or 5000 costs only to find out it is bogus....
