SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — An assistant manager at a Northern California Burger King found a backpack lwhich also contained some candy, a small amount of marijuana and a bank deposit slip.loaded with about $100,000 in a booth, but so far no one has come forward to claim it. Police are now working with the bank to find the bag's owner.

well he can kiss his money Good Bye even if they do find him :(
I don't think California is an open minded state ?

Bag full of cash and marijuana..... never should have said a word, cops will confiscate it. Should have just quit the crappy job and started a new life wherever she wanted.

And then start a rival fast food chain called "Cash & Hash Burger Queen"...

Honesty never pays that's clear but this money was "stained".
And I'd rather have the cops take it away then the pot sellers looking for me...

And I don't know how this works in the US, could she cash in the bank deposit slip?

forget the Deposit Slip !

The bag was stuffed with about $100,000 Cash.
at this point because of the Pot all they want to do is arrest him,
declare the money dirty & split it around the station.

besides there is really no proof the money is dirty,
it may have been all completely legal.
it just says there was a small amount of pot with it.
How much is a small amount ?
even so.. that in itself is enough reason for the owner to fear coming back.

I would have looked at it as Free money,
if nobody was that desperate to come back and ask.

holding on to the bag & watching if someone desperate looking come in, may have saved someones life too depending on the purpose for the cash

Best advice Charles Dean Miller (Karl von Mueller) ever gave was "keep found treasure a secret".

Reminds me of the time I . . . . oh, never mind.

My theory: The owner works at a medical marijuana store or owns it. Its illegal for these guys to put their money in the banks because of the federal laws so he was carrying it home to hide it under his bed. He stopped in to get a shake after a long day of having the munchies because he has a medical condition which requires he smoke the skunky weed and his job is obviously cool with that. However the one sad side effect of smoking Marijuana is forgetfulness.

I have solved the mystery. I, myself, would have tossed everything but the money and like the stoner above hide the loot under my bed.

The end
