Bomb Squad Checks Out Artillery Round Found In Park
MIAMI -- The Miami bomb squad was called to check out an old artillery round discovered at a local park,
fearing the round might be live ammunition.
Police said a resident who lived near the park found what he described as a "tank shell." It was two-feet long and shaped like a bullet. He took the object back to his home and called police.
Bomb Squad officials examined the round and used an x-ray machine to determine that the shell was not live ammunition. It was a 57-millimeter artillery training round.
Authorities weren't sure how the old casing ended up at a Miami park but are notifying the military.
