[FONT=open_sans]One of the "most important artefacts" ever found in Nottinghamshire has returned home – and will now form the centrepiece of a new museum.[/FONT]
[FONT=open_sans]The 2,000-year-old Iron Age torc – a gold stiff neck ring once worn as the ultimate status symbol – was added to the display at the National Civil War Centre in Newark on Wednesday.[/FONT]
[FONT=open_sans]It is just four miles away from where it was discovered on farmland by an amateur metal detectorist in 2005.[/FONT]
[FONT=open_sans]The jewellery – regarded by experts as one of the top two of its kind ever found in Britain – has until now been kept safe by the British Museum.

What an amazing piece. I remember reading about it. Wonder what the metal detectorist was paid and was he a member here? Glad the Gov is sharing it with the people. Sounds like it has a good home.
