Police Uncover Criminal's 10 Million Dollar Coin Collection

Dr. Gavin Awerbuch allegedly defrauded the medical industry out of many million of dollars by frivolously prescribing powerful painkillers. Awerbuch prescribed so much of the opium-based drug "Subsys" that the U.S. Attorney's Office ruled him as the number one distributor of the drug in the entire United States.

Awerbuch used his ill-gotten gains to purchase a vast treasure trove of ancient and historic coins and collectibles. A collection that was so massive it is believed to be worth close to $10 million. Investigators raided Awerbuch's office and discovered gold and silver coins including a coin from ancient Judea and coins of Roman emperors Titus and Claudius.

It is believed the majority of the collection is scattered among 16 safety deposit boxes at various banks. The government is set to uncover and sell all these coins at auction to reimburse the local government's defrauded coffers.
