Aquatic Research & Recovery Group, Inc. (ARRG) is a Florida corporation engaged in the exploration and salvage of historical shipwrecks and aircraft throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
In their operations they employ accepted archaeological guidelines as directed by a degreed marine archaeologist.
ARRG has an interesting origin in that all ten members of the company were introduced to each other via the TreasureNet web site, on the shipwreck forum.
Eight of the members cemented their friendship during a successful 3 day salvage expedition on the Jupiter Inlet (FL) wreck in October of 2006. They recovered 28 silver coins from the San Miguel de Archangel, lost in 1659.
This was followed up by ARRG’s discovery of a Civil War era shipwreck off Little River Inlet, NC. that they reported to North Carolina state officials.
Currently ARRG is preparing for a salvage expedition to Vero Beach, Florida. Their excavation plans include the San Martin, almiranta of the Honduran fleet, which sank in 1618, and the Santo Cristo de San Roman, almiranta of the New Spain fleet, destroyed by a hurricane in 1715.
Using archival research, sophisticated mapping techniques, advanced underwater remote sensing technology, a small fleet of vessels and highly efficient excavation methods, ARRG is poised to become a major player in the shipwreck exploration industry.
ARRG’s members include: Luis Camacho, Robert Gecy, Darren Talley, Pete Smitt, Brad Dalton, Dick Gurske, Jason Nowell, Steve McAdoo, David Toller and Tom Gidus.
