What do you mean "You must believe it was from another source?" Are you speaking of the gold? If so it has not been proven that the gold was there to start with?

The Local Historian in Elk County could very well have been the author that sold the story to "Treasure Magazine" about the "Dent's Run Gold"

The story of Dent's Run gold only goes back to when a story was printed about $300,000 in gold missing near Buchannon, W.Va. just before the Battle of Gettysburg. I do believe this story was true. And I also believe the Dent's Run Gold story was made from this story since the Buchannon, W.Va. story was printed first. There are no earlier accounts of gold being at or near Dent's Run. I have contacted the historians up there and I have gotten newspapers from librarians up in that area. The story does not pre-date the early to late 1960's.
According to The Way I took Finders Keepers Posts, He has no Doubt the Gold was There !

    End of story. !!!!!!!

Well he was told by a treasure researcher that there was no gold there to find. I posted it here somewhere about the story being Debunked. He even says he told Dennis there was no gold to find.

No disrespect and I am certainly not calling anyone a liar. But when claims are made, both sides of the story should be told, both pro and con.

You go back and read post on this gold story at Dent's Run there are so many variables and so many different stories. We should be able to ask questions about how there could be any treasure there at all. Back in 2010, Finderkeeper posted a letter from someone in Gretna, Virginia saying that someone in their family was raising gold and silver for the Confederate Government and this person said he had a letter from President Jefferson Davis thanking him for his services.

Then the Sculley story came up about the 26 each fifty pound bars being escorted to Harrisburg to pay the Union Troops. Since the FBI showed up to dig they must have believed the latter story because Finderkeeper said the FBI would not dig unless it was Union Gold?

Then there was the story of the silver being stolen by the DCNR or the State Government people that own the land. Then the FBI was called in because of this theft by a Court Order. Now it is believed the FBI stole 7 to 9 tons. How exactly do you carry that much on one wagon with three men and hay for the horses plus the weight of the wagon?

A lot of descrepencies and questions is the only way we can find out to get to the truth. If I have offended anyone I am sorry. In 2010 I even offered to go to Gretna to help Finderskeeper to keep him from traveling so far. But I guess we will find out in the end. I buried my crow last week, couldn't eat it as it had spoiled waiting on the facts.

After some of the detectives left the agency, they were said to have spent the rest of their lives in the area looking for the rest of the gold.

I Would think the feds have Access to the Pinkerton's Records.

That said FK says Both they & The Feds investigators Believed there was Gold.

You can Call the Feds Liars , They as a Whole, are Not Members here.
and consist of thousands of public and non public people.
if there is a member here who is a fed , you cannot call him a liar as a member..

You can call the Laginas Liars, They are Public TV stars & Not Open Members here. If at All.

You cannot Suggest Finders Keepers are Lying about the Gold.
as they are also members here.

All I'm saying IF your going to suggest It is not from one source,
You must Believe it was from another Source ?

& I Hope you wern't saying FK Made it up.
I'm not trying to be a Jackleg or anything like that, as this is a serious question. If the Laginas were members, Oak Island threads would be afforded the same protections as Dent's Run ones? I'm asking simply because the Dent's Run topic is the first time I've really seen people get banned on here, so I've not been too familiar with what has not been appropriate. It just seems that if someone doesn't agree that the story itself is legit, that is being interpreted as called FK's liars, which really isn't what I'm seeing. Suffice to say, I think just about anyone on here that is hunting for treasure 'believes' it is real, and there are plenty of people who have researched and have a counterpoint.

It is not "protection", our rules are clear, those who earned time outs were warned to post by our rules and refused to do so. Members can not talk down to, attack, insult, intentionally provoke or deliberately try to offend other members, they can not call them a liar or imply they are lying.

I tried to highlight the problem areas in red.

He has no doubt there was gold there. Cool. I do have doubts. I and others would simply like some hard evidence of the claims that FK has made over many years on this forum. That's isn't calling him a liar. It's just common sense asking him to provide proof to back up his assertions.

Members who earned timeouts were not politely asking for proof. Members can ask, FK is under no obligation to reply and if he so chooses not to answer he can not be attacked for it.

    Researching Treasure Stories Author
Most stories by past authors can be traced to earlier newspaper accounts which explains authors such as Penfield and Terry. I have been back tracking their material. Earlier someone posted this lost treasure was in a magazine years back. I have found such magazine articles have been word for word taken from old newspapers. As far as I am concerned the story exists and as such is a worthy topic of both research and book material if I was working on this state.

I believe the site moderators have deleted and/or edited posts or sections of posts that violated community standards. If you just came to this thread or others after the mods have "cleaned up", it may appear they're "picking" on people who aren't necessarily violating community standards (the "bad" posts are removed but moderator warnings remain as a guide to others).

Treasure Hunters Challenge FBI Over Dig for Legendary Gold

I too was skeptical of the story but after reading local eyewitness accounts of machinery firing back up and running well into the night long after the Feds supposedly shut down for the day because they were "cold and tired", as well as eyewitness accounts of armored trucks escorted by black SUVs coming and going... it does seem "something" was found - just the Paradas weren't allowed to dig it, watch it being dug up, or photograph any of it happening. Indeed, they were restricted to their vehicles and only allowed to view the site when the Feds allowed them to.

It's as though the site were a crime scene.
