Silver pendant declared treasure
A 500-year-old silver pendant depicting images from the Bible has been unearthed on farmland in Pembrokeshire.
Metal detector enthusiast Kenneth Lumm discovered the artefact in a field near Kilketty in January this year.

No value was placed on the item but a treasure trove inquest at Milford Haven heard the National Museum of Wales was interested in acquiring it.

Coroner Michael Howells heard coins dating back to the reign of Edward II had previously been found in the field.

Experts said the pendant, which includes an engraving of the Passion of the Christ, had been dated to the early part of the 16th Century.

Mr Lumm found it about four inches below the surface of the field.

As it was a valuable object over three years old, the coroner said it was treasure, and Mr Lumm would be entitled to a reward.
