I wish more people could figure out how to take good pictures. Some are way too big and some are way too small and some are too blury. We need a tutorial on photography.

    Re: Photos

I mostly wish people would learn to limit the width of their pictures to 700 pixels or less...
I am not going to hold it against someone if they don't have a very good quality camera.

    Re: Photos

Having Photoshop and knowing how to use it helps some.
First tho you need a good camera and good lighting. Mostly the lighting. That's the problem I have.
Then I can take it into photoshop and crop and size it.
But a lot of people aren't computer savey. So it is up to us to suggest to the ones that post the big pick that they need to maybe try using Paint to resize their photos if they don't have another program to do it with.
I'm on dialup yet and there are a lot of pics on here I can't view because they either don't load or takes to long.
Those great big ones are the worse. I just have to go by what they write and comment.
So remember we are here to help each other do better whether it's detecting or posting.

    Re: Photos

I have a few suggestions . First, don't blame a cheap camera on blurry pix. until I my old computer got killed by a virus I had xp and used a casio I bought in 96. It didn't even have a flash! I used a 500 watt spotlight and pointed it at the ceiling. It wasn't compatible with vista so I had to get a new one. Lighting is critical but not as much on the new camera. I currently use a less than $100 kodak and can take unbelievably good close ups just by taking them on macro through a mag glass. I use one of those black loop type with 2 loops 5X and 10X. the 5x works best most of the time but for those really close shots the 10x is great. It takes a little practice but it works real well. I just hold it up to the lens and let the camera auto focus. As far as sizing, most cameras come with some type of software for that. I use paintshop pro x2. (Before vista it was paintshop pro 8) Its way cheaper than photo shop. There are also some good free programs out there. (Easy to find at komando.com.) Another thing I often do is take the pix at 3 mega pixels instead of the full limits of the camera. This automatically reduces the size of the pic and actually doesn't affect the quality much if any. Hope all this helps some people

People need to look around the site.

Discuss photography, scanning, cropping, resizing, posting images, etc.

A tutorial made into a sticky on the photography board would help but people still need to look around, many answers could be found that way.

I agree! There's a lot of good info in the thread and it does help to double check your photo sizing by using the "test" thread. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/board,198.0.html That's how I learned...trial & error.
