Apology for huge pictures
We tried cropping, but they still came out huge. I'm informed my more intelligent spouse is going to correct the large images tomorrow.
I've been reading the forums and still can't believe my luck at finding this place.

Re: Apology for huge pictures
Don't sweat the big pics.
Here is a simple way to resize your pics:
-Open the program "Paint".
-Then click "File" and then "Open". This will bring up the folders/files on your computer.
-Select the file you wish to work with.
-With the file/image open click on "Image". This will open a drop down menu.
-From the drop down menu, click "Stretch/Skew". This will open another box.
-In this box you will see "Stretch" with options for "Horizontal" and "Vertical". The %'s for these will be at 100.
-Change the value from 100 to your new percentage (either shrinking or enlarging) and click OK.
-Save the newly sized photo as a new file so as to retain your original.

Best photo software ...
For preparing photos for the web I use Adobe Imageready.
It used to be a stand alone program but now it is bundled with Photoshop.
It not only will re-size the photo (I usually use 800 pixels wide) and it will also adjust the quality.
You don't need very high quality for a computer screen and most sites limit photos file size to 100K or less regardless of its dimensions.
Your re-sized photo can be anything from 1K to whatever the original file size was.

Re: Apology for huge pictures
Try washing the picture in hot water and then use a hairdryer to dry it. That may shrink it somewhat
