    Meteorite Men TV series.

Did anyone catch the first episode of this on the Science Channel? They use a homemade detector towed behind a truck across fields to find meteorites then pull out the smaller detectors to pinpoint them. They found a few 100+lb ones worth upwards of 100k in the episode I seen. Not a bad job IMO.

Ya I might have to keep my eye open for some of these while im out detecting. The first 170lb one they found was estimated at over $100k, they found a 2nd larger one than a few smaller ones. I seen another guy on Hunt for Amazing treasure who makes a fortune hunting meteors in Arizona. Not a bad business if your in the right locations...seems like Kansas and the Southwest are the places to be.

He wasn't there, so he can't believe it happened.

    I saw it! Dy-no-mite!!

Made me want to go out meteorite hunting . . . and having a detector, you're halfway there.
I have to find a desert or salt flats though, to make it easier to find meteorites!

Gotta love that tow behind they made, cover a ton of ground, it appears to go super deep and all while sitting in the climate controlled cab of a truck. It made me want to go meteor hunting too. From the looks of it on the show most of the meteors tended to be out of reach of our conventional detectors since a few times they had to dig down a few feet to get a signal and that was on iron meteors with Fisher detectors so most of the other brands might have even more of an issue picking them up at depth but I do need to start digging iron hits more.

Best place for meteorite hunting is artic or antartic. Most scientist get them there as they are easy to spot. A black rock sitting on a white surface sure stands out.

Yeah, I guess it helps to have grizzled guy with a major-sized back-hoe following you around too!
