There was a story in my town's local paper today how one of these television evangelists took this local elderly lady for her entire life's savings. $426,286 to be exact. She is 78 years old and was going to give the money to her three sons after passing. She is now facing eviction and may have to move in with one of her boys.

How sad. These t.v. preachers are the scum of the earth IMHO.

It's sad that these people take advantage of the elderly, but then again, these people are giving their money freely and there is no crime in that.. I just need to find some of these people so I can help them protect their money too

Unfortunately, we can't baby sit everyone; so some will certainly lose their shirts to these guys.

I agree with you 110% spart. However, when it comes to either children or the elderly, it really hits my hot button.

I haven't a clue as to how ANYONE would send money to these guys, but, that is beside the point. Taking advantage of someone down on their luck or lonely, elderly, etc. is the bottom of the barrel.

I have seen people who travel hundreds of miles with a terminally ill loved one just to see a local minister (Tulsa, Ok) in hopes to be healed. They may have donated thousands of dollars to build his university and support his and his family's extravagant life style. He not only won't see them but has called the police to have the trespassers removed from the property. Their lives were shattered no doubt. He is getting old and just a little senile and probably won't live much longer. I think he won't like it in hell. But he will have plenty of his so called evangelistic friends for company. M nty

You are forgetting that these people want to be taken. You could make a case for the children of idiots being deprived of things their parents could have bought them but for giving their money away. But the stupid parents? I don't feel bad for them at all. In fact, if I was flat broke today I'd go get a used circus tent up near Tampa where the circus folk live and start my own traveling quack show for the true-believers. I'd entertain the hell out 'em. I'd take every dime they had. I'd ruin that Bible Belt.

Then I'd come back to Key West and start over again with god's windfall. Praise be.
