I don't think this is the NatGeo one. This is another one on Spike TV. Looks like they're going to be using heavy equipment to make the recoveries. That should be interesting.

It's gonna get ugly folks!

Archaeologists are mounting a campaign against two new cable TV shows that they say encourage and glamorize looting of American archaeological sites.

"The Extreme History Project strongly condemns the irresponsible production and presentation of the television shows Diggers, on The National Geographic Channel and American Digger on Spike TV. Both of these shows have a group of people with metal detectors and backhoes collecting “treasure” across the American heritage landscape. This activity represents nothing less than the looting and destruction of our shared American cultural heritage."

Re: "American Diggers" new metal detecting show on the SPIKE TV

I Do not agree That "Diggers" on Nat Geo
is particularly Bad.
All they are doing is Detecting.

But "American Diggers" on spike Coercing People
into letting them dig with Backhoes
is definately a Black Eye !

If you're Going to dig for Large treasures
on private property
you have to learn to Lie.

Purchase the Property,
apply for a Permit to put in
a Swimming pool, Or build
a Basement.
or Have the Landowner say this is
what your going to do.
you can always change your mind after
your done digging.

Don't advertise
to the Archies your Digging Relics or TreaSURE.

in some southern markets they already showed the American Diggers program on Spike
it was a surprise preview - in limited areas - some guys saw it and commented on other forums
and there is already flak from it too
nation wide showing is supposed to be next week they are bundling it with Auction Hunters new episode I think

this is what they think... Both shows "promote and glorify the looting and destruction of archaeological sites,"

its not good for our hobby... be prepared... I hate being negative but we all are going to lose I am afraid... I so hope I am wrong.

HI Chukers; Nope, your not. !!! The archies "will" try literally anything to make us look like pond scum for sure. Stick round, It's only going to get worse which is why I openly challenged Alexandre to an Open Debate. Still no word yet though. Anyway, to sum these shows up in one word, "DUUUUUUUCK"!!!!!!! :tard: PEACE:RONB :icon_thumright:

Re: "American Diggers" new metal detecting show on the SPIKE TV

I watched the first 8 minutes or so of the preview on the Spike website.

Geez....

When rolling the intro credits theres these guys in slow motion ripping stuff like colt pistols out of the ground and the dirt is just flying off of them.... oh boy.

It was...to me anyway.... a very production oriented show.

Digging 101

I watched the History Channel's diggers 101 last night. The show was a big joke. they made up names I've never heard of and jumped around like idiots every time they found something, I've been detecting for 25 years and never even seen kids acting like this. Also the places they are detecting are off limits to most detectorist unless you an archeologist from some big museum, or detecting for a TV station

Not everyone, after one episode I said no, would rather watch paint dry..
