in overall good shape except its got a tiny hole off to the side -- funny what you can find in a 'junk" coin scrap box here in the USA

Nice find mate.
This was the only half farthing minted under William IV. It was minted for use in Ceylon (the British Crown colony of present-day Sri Lanka) so is not a coin I've ever come across here in the UK.
In 'Extra Fine' condition that would be a £350 coin (according to SPINK). Still the value in making the discovery is worth a lot to I say.
