Jeff, This reminds me of an event in my youth. We converted a bicycle air-pump into a cannon using homemade gunpowder. It worked better (louder) than expected. We never tried it again.

I do believe I can truthfully say MOST of us here have in our time done the exact thing.
Cept we ours down ground hog holes.
MAYBE,, just maybe that is why we keep getting more weather?
