Wondering if anyone has detected or gold panned the Rapahannock at Kellys Ford near the boat launch? I reached out to the Wildlife Management Area which borders that area and they made it clear to me to detecting is allowed in the WMA. However, he wasn't sure what the rules were for actually detecting in the river. I am also not 100% clean on what is/is not public vs private property on either side of the river in that area. Looking at this as a potential location and wanted to see if anyone else has any experience or knowledge of this area. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I meant that they made it clear that detecting is NOT allowed in the WMA.

Great info, thanks. I would be accessing the waterway at a public boat launch and walking, in the water the whole time, from there to detect so it sounds like that 1) since it's a public access and 2) I have my VA underwater exploration and recovery permit, that I should be good to go as long as I stay wet.
