Just introducing myself. Mark from Tacoma area. New to MD, been looking on for awhile and decided to get off the fence and get my own machine.

Nice to meetcha. Me and a friend will be doing some MD work soon. I'll post some of what we find as we find it. It's too bad there are few "historical" sites similar to the east coast near here. We'll just have to make do I guess. My friend has some good areas scoped out as "wishing well" type concentrations of clad coins. Me, I am checking with the state on the legality of beach accesses at parks. Also, I bought a rolling magnet sweeper. I figured to use it to gain the trust of park managers so I can get access to their beaches. Same with park play areas and historic buildings. Kinda hard to turn down a guy who is clearing up trash for free. Good luck with your own efforts.

I'm up in Everett. Also a Newbie. When I bought my machine, I picked up a little pamphlet that lists the State Parks that are open for MD'ing. Don't have it with me right now, or I'd list them here, but there is quite a few. More than I expected.
Does anyone know??... I thought there was some old "Seaman's Act of 1842" or some such thing that states the area between the water and the high tide line is public access. ?? The law was designed to allow anyone who was washed ashore from being shipwrecked to not get in trouble for 'trespassing', I think. So far, I have not proceeded past any beach areas posted private property, but the signs are always up past the high tide line (naturally ).
Anybody know if we're allowed access to the beaches as long as we stay below the high water mark??

You have history wherever you are! As you learn your machines start doing some research/homework. When you are ready to venture to places like Paul photographed you'll be good to go!

Hi - Derek here- Renton.
I have a log cabin on Badger Mountain - 2 miles from Waterville-we go there all summer long. Damn gas prices are killing us it is about 150 miles from my place.
I never look or use my MD there - and yes this area have a lot of ald houses, barns etc...
Hmmmm let's see.

Hey- Im also somewhat of a newbie, Ive had limited experience. I do know that in most places in Seattle you can detect on the patches of grass between the streets and the sidewalks - Ive had some luck with this on Queen Anne hill. Be warned -most residents dont know this and sometimes get angry!

Ive had some luck checking out these spots on Queen Anne Hill. Be warned- most residents dont know that its city property and sometimes get cranky with you, especially on Queen Anne!

I have over 100 acres there and you are welcome to visit.
We will be going there in a couple of weeks.

What do you know about Waterville and Badger Mountain ??
I'm Lisa also from Seattle. I have neen md'ing for over a year but got a pretty nice present yesterday (in my posts) White's M6. I have been finding clad and also go to a bonfire beach I found $1.10 today but get kind of bored there.
I would be interested in going out on a hunt with other people. My boyfriend likes to come with me but only has the patience to let me hunt for about 15 minutes.

Hi Paul, I go to Wenatchee every September for a softball tournament. It gets pretty boring after a few games though (I am a fan, not a player) so maybe this summer!!!
Hi Lisa, the locations I am most likely to hunt around will be Auburn/Lake Taps, Spanaway/Spanaway Lake/Graham, and ski resorts. I also have the equipment and interest in prospecting in outlying areas.
Recent news is I found a silver ring at Lake Taps boat launch yesterday. Also found some raw silver. My daughter immediately claimed the ring, my son claimed the raw silver. Go figure.
As you might have noticed from my other posts, I am allowing detecting on my property so I can pick peoples brains to improve my skills.
