    New to the game

Always thought it'd be pretty neat to go explore some historic areas, and finally I'm ready to go from pretty neat to doing.

Although I do not have some fancy metal detector, i was given a cheap one a few months ago.

I'm in whatcom county and would appreciate any help one could throw.

    Hey uncool!

Welcome to TNet! This is a great forum with lots of info for the newbie. I've only been detecting for a year, and have really learned alot here.

If you want historic places, look up ghost towns in Wa for some cool sites. Also, there is "Discovering Washington's Historic Mines" through Oso Publishing. It's a three book series and I think Vol. 3 covers northern WA. Just watch out for places that are designated as Historical Landmarks, as it is illegal to remove any artifacts from there.

I'm in Everett and haven't been up north much, yet. Oh, yeah... another good resource is historical maps and photos through the UW library. They're online. Very cool!

    Good luck & Happy Hunting
