    Re: Sea Fair

MANY years ago I used to hit the lake the Monday after seafair. We founds lots of paper money floating along the bottom. The best we ever did was $184 in one day. We dove it and along the float line, where all the rafters tied together drinking bear, we would find a year's supply of various canned beverages, lots of nice towels that needed only to be washed, lighters, radios, sunglasses, etc. The word got out and a year or two before we quit, we would see people hurrying down to the water with their SCUBA gear the minute the races were over. The other thing that really killed that hunt was they put in beer gardens as things were getting too rowdy. They also made people stay out of the water during the race so that created two major reasons the loot was diminished.
There are still many unofficial beaches along the lake in that area that people play in all summer. Beaches other than the 'official' guarded beaches. With a wading detector and a scoop, those could still provide some good finds. In the 80s I sold $900 worth of scrap gold from rings I found in the lake at guarded swimming beaches...after they guards were gone at night or before they came on duty in the morning. Regards...Jim
If you think you can or if you think you can't...you're probably right!
