I've done some detecting in Guyandotte and believe its OK to detect along the floodwall. Never had an issue with that. I've been down by the boat docks and park under the bridge. Its very trashy, alot of flip tops and bottle caps. My detector couldn't do the job down there. Anyway, good luck hunting in Guyandotte area.

By the boat docks it floods all the time lol but by the madie carrol house, on the other side of the floodwall under the bridge I was hoping for some civil war relics hopefully. Do you know where the old suspension bridge use to be?

I'll have to try by the boat docks and under the bridge in that area, when Jenkins raided Guyandotte they came in over the what is now to get into Guyandotte from Huntington bridge.

I plan on going back there this spring with a new AT Pro, gave away my GTI 1500 to my brother in law. Anyway, that place has been hunted pretty heavily but it would be an ideal place for an AT Pro

I'd just like to give it a shot, a lot of history and civil war history, in that area is where Jenkins and his men raided guyandotte, they traded shots across that bridge, then charged into guyandotte. I might give it a try this Sunday its supposed to be close to 60 degrees. Another good Place to checkout would the battle of barboursville right there from the mud river to the hillside headinging into barboursville.

I would like to to hunt the hillside especially from rt 60 to the Veterans Home. My thinking is that they might have set up defensive positions on that hill looking down on RT 60. That would be my guess. If I was a little younger, thats where I would go.
