Found this old ring many years ago inside a small blue jar I dug up near an old homestead. The coin was mounted with solder and I removed it with a razor blade way back when to identify the coin. Ring is marked as 14k and has a nice design but it is obviously plated brass or copper that had been previously enlarged. The coin itself is dated 1855 and appears to be copper on the front and gold on the back. Back side is written California gold 1/2 plus has a bear on it. I have seen several pictures of other California gold coins but nothing like this one. Is it worth anything? Sorry for the bad cell phone pictures, I placed the coin in it's original spot to image. Thanks for any advice!

Just based on your description it has no real value. It's a fake coin that was mounted on a fake ring.

Thank you! A friend told me it was worthless a long time ago. Had to check for myself! HH

Fake or not, that is a cool old ring. The way you found it is also cool.
